If you ask Dr. Roger C. Mixter, MD what keeps him going after 30 years in the cosmetic surgery business and he’ll tell you that while he truly loves medicine, patient care is what keeps him interested. “It’s really about the patients,” he says, “it’s about the variety and the interesting cases, about how my skills as a surgeon have enabled me to access the world — Russia, Cuba, Chiapas, Haiti — these are all places I’ve visited through my non-profit The Face Foundation. That’s truly what keeps me going.”
Dr. Mixter is a board certified plastic surgeon and has practiced cosmetic surgery in Wisconsin for over twenty years. He has been recognized as One of America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly for 3 consecutive years.
Originally from Milwaukee, Dr. Mixter is a graduate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed general surgery and plastic surgery residencies at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and received advanced training in facial reconstruction at The Australian Craniofacial Unit in North Adelaide SA, Australia. Outside the operating room, Dr. Mixter is an active participant in collaboration with Youth Chef Academy and the Milwaukee Boys and Girls Clubs to promote healthy eating in an effort to reduce childhood obesity in Milwaukee.
As medical director for L’image Skin Spa Franklin, Dr. Mixter believes patient education is the key to a successful outcome. “My responsibility as a provider is to offer information and options, empowering the patient to make an informed decision under my guidance. From the beginning I’ve believed in the power of a comprehensive pre- and post-surgical treatment plan that includes skincare and regular treatments. There are so many less invasive procedures that can provide results the patient is looking for, especially if there is any apprehension about going under the knife. Skincare, facials, peels, laser treatments, Botox/Dysport and dermal fillers, we can offer all of that to our patients here at L’image Franklin.”
Gabrielle “Gigi” Kochell, RN is L’image Franklin’s on-staff nurse injector and clinical manager, overseeing our licensed aestheticians and daily clinic operations. A master-level injector for more than ten years, Gigi received her nursing degree from Columbia Hospital School of Nursing at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
“There was never a question about what I wanted to be growing up,” Gabrielle “Gigi” Kochell, RN says. “I always wanted to be a nurse. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I’ve always enjoyed helping people, making them feel better about themselves and I also enjoy challenges. Being a nurse injector combines both of those interests for me.”
Gigi has been a registered nurse for over 30 years, including more than 20 years of plastic surgery clinic and operating room experience. Outside the operating room Gigi consulted with patients on various skin conditions, their concerns and goals, and recommended treatment options which included everything from medical-grade skincare and treatments to minimally-invasive procedures to complement and enhance their surgical results.
“It’s important to me that people are educated and have realistic expectations. Trust is critical when it comes to medical aesthetics, the patient has to trust my knowledge and experience will guide them to their beauty goals. It’s a team effort, really, a collaboration between provider and patient and that’s what I enjoy.”
Gigi’s focus is exclusively on injectables, a minimally-invasive alternative to cosmetic surgery for patients who may not be ready to go under the knife. Using Botox, Dysport, Restylane and Juvederm products as well as Sculptra and Kybella, Gigi is able to tighten, fill and lift with little to no down time.
Tamara Morales has an extensive background in cosmetic dentistry which inspired her passion for medical aesthetics. She says she made the career change not only because she wanted to continue to inspire confidence in people through their beauty routine, but because she personally struggled with skin issues for a long time. Nothing seemed to work and as a Latina she quickly discovered that there are few professionals in the field who are experienced with a variety of skin types, with skin like her own; that’s when she realized she wanted to educate anyone who struggles like she did on the power of physician-directed skincare. Tammy will help transform the way you feel about your skin through patient education and a consistent, customized treatment plan unique to your skincare goals.
“There is no easy fix,” she says, “but I know firsthand that quality skincare is the foundation for looking and feeling your best and that regular treatments will only help you maintain your new glow.
